At the end of 2022 we were somehow able to deliver and present competition entry for the new library in the city of Prešov in eastern part of Slovakia. New library will be situated in the city centre in 3 neighbouring buildings from the 16th century, which are being currently renovated. Yet again we finished 2nd. Programme of the library is divided into 4 levels with different department on each level, connected via complicated corridors, staircases and new openings in the constructions. We came up with the idea of preserving as much as possible from the old houses, where main book shelves are detached from the walls and ceilings and are densely packed in the middle house, thus creating spaces for reading, employees, caffe and chill out zone. The other 2 houses located on sides, offer smaller rooms with lower free hight, where book shelves are situated on the perimeter of the rooms, thus creating more intimate spaces for visitors.
